Email list

November 7, 2011 in Communication, Email, Presence, Small Business

Create an opt-in email address list. You can begin doing this at your grand opening. On the form guests use to sign up for the prize drawing, include an area where they can provide their email or mailing addresses and opt-in to receive future mailings from your business. When a customer makes a purchase at your business, ask him whether he wants to be added to your mailing list to be notified of upcoming specials and receive coupons. If you participate in area trade shows or community festivals, invite visitors to sign up for your mailing list at these events, as well.

Commit to the Community

Show your commitment to the community by using your business to occasionally host charitable events. For example, your business might host a food or clothing drive to benefit a local nonprofit organization. If possible, open up part of your business space to be used for dropping off donations, or as a gathering place charity organizations. Many charitable organizations hold auctions and raffles to raise funds, and you may be able to donate a major item for these events. If you do this, request that promotional materials indicate the item was donated by your business.
